The cabinet comes alive as one approaches it; the viewer becomes part of its presence. Reflections of both the observer and the surrounding space determine

 nearly ninety percent of the work’s appearance, transforming Liquid Drop into a constantly shifting dialogue between object, light, and environment.

Among the defining signatures of Art Deco furniture design was the work of André Groult, whose fluid silhouettes echoed the sensual curves found in violin making. In 1987, Marc Newson translated this visual language into his iconic Pod of Drawers, a work that later inspired Osiris Hertman to create his own contemporary interpretation.

Inspired by Groult’s organic formalism, Hertman began developing the cabinets of the Liquid Drop Collection — an aesthetic suspended between historical craftsmanship and artisanal modernism.

Osiris hand-mixes his pigments and intuitively applies them onto the mirrored surface. The droplets appear suspended in time, frozen by cold, existing somewhere between liquid and solid form.

The work translates an ancient visual language into a contemporary artisanal process: mirrored stainless steel is hammered and shaped by hand, finished with expressive copper welds, and refined through a continuous search for minimal colour, maximum gloss, and pure reflection.
