CLOUDY TABLE

The Cloudy Table occupies a space between table, bench and sculpture. Three chamotte clay legs — inspired by the form of elephant limbs — support a highly polished stainless steel top. While the clay remains soft, Hertman scratches the surface, allowing the grains of chamotte to remain visible. The amorphous metal edge is shaped using a hammering technique, referencing traditional blacksmithing. Bronze welds underline the artist’s commitment to craft.
